In HGTV Dream Home 2008, a striped fabric is used for the curtain trimming as well as the kids' overhead bed treatment. Dressed in a mixture of patterns and textures, this bedroom is youthful and fun.

Drapes Make a Decorative Divide

Curtains make great room dividers and can be adjusted to your preference. They can be pulled back with ties, pinned apart or simply allowed to hang freely. In this master suite the cream-colored curtains make the perfect divide between the bed and meditation area. Use them as a simple way to define different areas of your home.

Enhance the Details

Drapes are not just for windows. In this formal foyer the drapes enhance the architecture while making a stylish statement. Placed alongside the architectural posts, the flowy cream curtains create a dramatic entrance, leading you from the front door into the family room and kitchen.

Decorative Designs

Curtains can be extremely decorative. Use them to add a touch of personality to your space. Long curtains, such as these lightly patterned neutral fabrics, will add height and bring drama to your decor. Simplistically designed, this dining room is styled with handcrafted furnishings and neutral fabrics and accessories.

A sea of calming blue and serene cream in the home's gathering space complements interior stone cladding and connects the room to outdoor spaces.

I wanted there to be lots of interesting textures,' says interior designer Linda Woodrum. 'I wanted the perimeter of the room the stone wall and the windows to be dominant. Then I wanted your eye to go outside.

About the Entry Hall

Walls painted a soothing shade of coastal blue create a warm welcome in the entry, where a beadboard-clad ceiling lends New England charm. A sisal-style durable hall rug leads to a cozy recessed daybed, where guests may sit and kick off shoes before entering the home's main living space. Floor-to-ceiling curtains, when drawn, create a napping cocoon. This "cozy focal point" and its surrounding accents, says interior designer Linda Woodrum, hint at the home's overall design scheme.

About the Living Room 

To capture the feeling of "beach cottage," interior designer Linda Woodrum focused on casual furnishings, layers of eye catching textures and a neutral color palette that contributes to the room's relaxed "I'm on vacation" vibe. "It's all a foundation to support what's outside," says Linda, who admits that views from the great room's glass walls serve as the real star of the show.

Borrowing the kitchen's color palette and visible from both kitchen and great room, the pantry offers storage and food prep space.

 About the Pantry

Making the most of every square inch of space, the design/build team carved out a food storage room in an area originally earmarked as an elevator shaft. The room's design motif is predicated on the oversized trellis pattern of the counter skirt material. India ink dog portraits by artist Christina Hewson complete the clean, graphic design.

Travertine style porcelain tile and clean white surfaces define this spa like master bath, where an antique style dresser and botanical artwork offer an intriguing focal point. 

 About the Master Suite Bathroom

Interior designer Linda Woodrum turned a challenge into a triumph in the master bathroom. The room's unique floor plan lacked a clear cut focal point. The solution came in the form of a scalloped chest, above which hangs an antique style glicee. "We have this new approach: How do you create a new way of looking at a bathroom when you have an unusual configuration?" says interior designer Linda Woodrum.
