Interior designer Linda Woodrum’s “ode to nature,” the master bedroom boasts organic bedding and furnishings that tell their own unique stories.

A beetle-kill barn door closes the niche off from the loft, so that an individual could work in the space while not interrupting family members. “The niche is a great spot. It can be your office, if you work at home,”

Cut-loop carpeting in a mossy green greets guests as they enter the master suite. “It’s rich and quiet, and supports that whole design theme,”

A carbon-steel side table, paired with a traditional club chair, features an eye-catching Celtic knot design.

Apparition, a graphite charcoal drawing by Anna Kaye, presides over the tranquil space. Ten percent of the artist’s sales go to Colorado’s State Forest Service to provide funding for the Bark Beetle Mitigation Fund.

A heavy-duty scaffolding table, nestled below a set of windows, serves as a display perch for decorative accessories, including a faux-bois table lamp.

An Asian-style rattan chair offers a tranquil space to read or relax. “It’s sculptural,” says Linda. “It’s back to being unusual, throwing in one piece in the mix that’s different and unexpected. It was an early find — one of those impulsive buys.”

The bed is flanked by two sturdy cement tables.

“The master bedroom is a very tranquil, Zen-like space,” says Linda. “I think that’s very significant today. People like to have a spot where they can go and relax, feel like they can go and escape, and we put all of that in that bedroom.”

Master Bathroom Pictures " HGTV Green Home 2014 "

A continuation of the master bedroom’s focus on quiet luxury, the master bathroom boasts two separate islands and an adjoining master closet space.

A vessel-style sink and faucet and a 6 x 5- foot mirror framed in blue make a subtle nod to the bedroom’s ethnic-chic design style.

Emulating the look of quarried slate, porcelain tiles lead to an oversized shower with pitched floor and glass enclosure.

A spray of pear blossoms and a small bouquet of hyacinths bring a hint of spring indoors.

A door in the master bathroom opens to reveal the 10 x 6-foot master closet space.

The master closet features ample storage shelves and drawers, plus a built-in ironing board and open storage space to hang clothing.

When a guest enters the room, a The Metlund D'MAND System sensor installed at the top of the beetle-kill pine door activates a small pump that circulates the ambient temperature water in the hot water pipes back to the water heater. The result: Hot water runs as soon as the owner turns on the tap.

Master Bedroom Pictures 2014 " HGTV Dream Home 2014 "

Black furnishings and men's-wear fabrics pop against walls painted a vibrant cranberry shade.

A miniature replica of HGTV Dream Home 2014, 3-foot-high by 3-foot-wide Doggie Dream Home, constructed by carpenter David Brown, features space for two small dogs. Padding is upholstered in the same houndstooth fabric as wingback chairs.

A door from the master suite leads to a private balcony, where one can enjoy a morning cup of coffee or sunset cocktail.

Geometric shapes, layering of textures and intriguing design elements keep the eye moving about the room.

The queen-size pencil-post bed is dressed with boutique hotel-quality linens, quilted bedding, a cozy wool throw and a ticking-stripe comforter.

Lined drapery panels continue the room's focus on men's-wear fabrics, a subtle nod to Vermont's history as a leading textiles manufacturer.

An oversized walk-in closet, steps from the master bedroom entrance, provides storage space for both linens and clothing.

Master Bathroom Pictures 2014 " HGTV Dream Home 2014 "

The centerpiece of the bathroom's design, a vintage tub discovered at a local architectural salvage center is updated with a coat of paint and a hemlock cradle.

Adding understated ambiance, pewter-trimmed glass votive holders line the ledge above the tub.

Carpenter David Brown handcrafted the custom birch-framed mirror for the space. Lighting fixtures that peek through the glass complete the clean, uncluttered look.

Charcoal quartz countertop accommodates two sinks topped with modern chrome faucets. A bouquet of white hydrangeas and white countertop accessories extend the neutral canvas.

The vanity comes equipped with a warming drawer for towels and lotions.

The home's most dramatic view can be enjoyed as one peers through the master bathroom's 5-foot-wide by 12-foot-tall column of glass.

2013 HGTV Smart Home : Master Bedroom Pictures

About the Master Bedroom:
Inspiration for the bedroom design came from two raffia inlay accent chests that flank the bed. A tone on tone color palette spells serenity while the layering of damask and trellis patterns evokes Hollywood regency style. "I tried to keep it light, airy, clean and very serene because it's a master bedroom," says interior designer Linda Woodrum. "And the sandy colors in the palette are very peaceful and relaxed."

With its own private deck and easy access, via telescoping glass doors, to outdoor spaces, the master bedroom offers a luxurious retreat. Hickory floors and an ashwood bed, finished in a dark hue, ground the space and make light colored fabrics pop.

Creating a cocoon like feel, the queen sized bed nestles inside a wall niche. Green accent pieces connect the space to exteriors.

The bed is dressed in linen sheets with a linen box stitched quilt complete with French knot details. The damask pattern of the area rug lends drama and continues the room's focus on bold pattern and design.

Tabletop accents help to tell the story of serenity and compelling design. Pagoda style lamps are paired with faux tortoise jewelry boxes and a scented soy wax candle.

A bedside iPad controls the mattress base, which adjusts to accommodate several ergonomic rest positions. The user can adjust head and leg positions as well as head, lumbar and leg massage, and preset both position and massage modes.

A bed and breakfast style experience is served up for the lucky winner. Crisp white porcelain dinnerware and bamboo style stainless steel flatware comprise a lovely place setting.

Trellis like upholstery fabric elevates the design of a sand colored lounge chair. A creamy wool throw blanket invites one to curl up and nap.

Interior designer Linda Woodrum, not a fan of all-white interiors, selected an ashwood bed in a dark finish to complement creamy linens. "You have to have something to ground your lights." she says. "You do need darks it might be a piece of artwork, a coffee table, artwork or pillows."

A dressing table near the room's entrance commands attention. Graphic design comes in the form of the Greek key fretwork mirror, a trellis fabric tablecloth and filigree embroidered lampshades. The mirror frame and potted ferns add the needed pop of green.

A petite ottoman, upholstered in a refined lattice print fabric, serves as seating and doubles as a tabletop surface.

Wall mirrors reflect light and visually expand the room's already generous footprint.

An LED TV offers the luxury of cinema in bed. Media equipment and DVDs are easily stowed in the travertine topped cottage style server, which doubles as a media cabinet in the master bedroom.

An oversized photograph draws the eye in the room's far corner. "We thought it was really graphic, strong, and had a nice contrast to all the peacefulness in the room without being jarring," says Linda.

Travertine style porcelain tile and clean white surfaces define this spa like master bath, where an antique style dresser and botanical artwork offer an intriguing focal point.

About the Master Suite Bathroom

Interior designer Linda Woodrum turned a challenge into a triumph in the master bathroom. The room's unique floor plan lacked a clear cut focal point. The solution came in the form of a scalloped chest, above which hangs an antique style glicee. "We have this new approach: How do you create a new way of looking at a bathroom when you have an unusual configuration?" says interior designer Linda Woodrum.
